Joan Grifoll founded Artes Gráficas Grifoll in a small screen-printing workshop at Rubí, a small industrial town.
Shortly after, his brother Pere Grifoll joined, who at the age of 16 began learning the printer’s trade.
The Grifoll brothers equip the workshop with a typographic machine and one of the first automatic silkscreen machines in Spain, expanding their activity to stationery and editorial clients.
At that time there were still not enough professionals specialized in screen printing. GRIFOLL becomes an experimentation center, building the foundations of a culture of graphic innovation that continues to this day.
David Casals, future partner of the Group, joins GRIFOLL as head of the Finance Department.
On its tenth anniversary, the workshop moves to Doctor Gimbernat Street, where the space allows the entry of new offset printing machinery.
GRIFOLL acquires the company Serigrafia Industrial S.A. (SEINSA). With this expansion we start printing on plastic materials, giving us access to new solutions for the industrial market.
Esteve Aymerich, Sales Director and partner of GRIFOLL, begins a new period of expansion, taking promotional solutions to international markets.
First foray into the British market. The success of this operation encourages the expansion to new countries that we still serve today.
In the next 5 years we will go on to export print solutions to the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Greece, Switzerland, Portugal and Turkey.
GRIFOLL PRINT PROMOTIONS is established, specializing in printed solutions for the promotional sector.
Construction of its current headquarters begin, culminating in the year 2000 with a 3,420m2 plant, enough space to expand the machinery park to new solutions for UVI printing, digital printing, die-cutting and wrapping.
GRIFOLL is audited by the American Institute of Bakery, obtaining the GMP certificate for Good Manufacturing Practices.
The ISO 9001 management system is implemented, which guarantees the quality and traceability of the entire production process.
GRIFOLL renews its certification annually, adapting to the new requirements of 2015.
Antoni Vert is appointed Managing Director.
At a time when the printing industry is facing the digital revolution, GRIFOLL bases its growth on two pillars:
GRIFOLL begins the production of IML labels, expanding its catalog of printing solutions for the industrial sector.
Certification of temporary tattoos and water-based make-up facepaints in accordance with the new European Cosmetic Regulations.
The facilities are validated by the AEMPS for the manufacture of cosmetics, allowing GRIFOLL to offer a double safety standard for printed products in contact with the skin.
GRIFOLL obtains the FSC certification for its chain of custody, endorsing responsible management of forest resources.
100% of the energy consumed by GRIFOLL comes from renewable sources. 192 solar panels are installed expecting to self-supply up to 30% of our energy needs.
Joan Grifoll, founder of the house, and Esteve Aymerich, partner and Commercial Director during the years of greatest growth of GRIFOLL, pass away.
Implementation of the FSSC 22000 food safety management system, which includes the Good Manufacturing Practices.
